For instance the first consideration is lighting. Paint stores normally have fluorescent type illumination, which is not what you will find in a typical home. Most of us have incandescent, low voltage halogen, or even natural lighting sources. The point being, that the colors you are choosing in the stores will look markedly different in your home. All color tools should be viewed in the space being painted, while preferably putting a trial square or two on the walls for review. Even then, it will be difficult to visualize the perspective color since it will be highly impacted by the existing paint color surrounding the new swatch.

Color can be used to make a space feel smaller or larger for example. It can trigger certain emotions or set a desired mood. For instance if there are many brightly colored personal objects or accents in a room, if a person chooses a strong or vibrant color, the room will have a lot of “energy” and may not be easy to relax in.
